So, finally WE DID It. This was the first production of my dance group -- DANCE UNIQUE.
First of all, all the students , you did a great job, especially for those who put real effort in it. Our venue was very small that day, but all of you co-operated so well and made the show so smooth.
Then I have to thank all the voluntary helpers -- Jenny ma, Vincent, Venus Lo, Hilda, Raymond, Sam, Emily, Gary, Cammy, Kate, Lily, Wing Do, Kit, Billy, Edmond. Without you, the show could not be run successfully.
Thanks for all the sponsors -- Calvin, Michael from 港九洒樓菜室總工會職業學校 for providing the food, V-hair, Ricky and Ritz for drinks. Thanks Venus for organizing the venue from day one to show day.
Thank you Marsha for singing a song for us. You're so sexy and beautiful!!!
Thanks all the audience for buying a ticket to support us. This is so important to us.
Thanks my partners Jen, Shan and Mei for putting effort and being patient to Dance Unique. I really love working with you all. Remember last year on Oct 4 we set up this group on my birthday? We started from teaching classes to now having run the first mini-showcase. This showcase is very meaningful to us because it proved that if we believe ourselves, we can make it. It also reminds us how much we still love what we are doing. We need to refresh all the time our passion in art. We always want to get rid of boundaries and usual patterns and most importantly, change ourselves and affect the others in positive ways. This platform is a place for us to learn and grow. I really hope our group can achieve more and more in the future.
I could feel everyone that night enjoyed so much in the show, we were not trying to show off, but to make good use of art to bring more goodness to each other.
I am so delighted that my first production of my dance group DANCE UNIQUE is coming this Sunday. Wow, this is the first time I organize a function with my partners and at the same time I 've got to perform and choreograph for my students. There are so stuff to do!!!! It's been tough but I really enjoy this. Of course this is not the first time I perform. However, I feel so happy because I can choose what I want to perform this time. I can choose the music I wanna dance, wanna sing and the way I want it to be shown to the audience. And I wanna prove myself my ability to manage all things.
These days I am really a bit tired because at the same time, I still keep teaching 6 classes per week , attending classes and doing 2-3 musical shows at high schools every week. I got sick a few days ago, I am very sure because my body was too tired even I got enough sleep generally . My mind keeps thinking about all work non-stop. But I recovered fast. It's surely because of my positive energy and passion that get rid of the bad things.
I practise very hard for this performance, even though it's just a showing at a party. But somehow it's the first "baby" of my dance group, I hope all things are good. But I don't have too much pressure this time, coz I know it's only a process for my students, myself and my teammates to learn and grow. That's the spirit of art.
There are so many people who help in this function. I will list them out after Sunday show and hope I can pose some videos here later.
So everyone, break a leg in the show. Truly enjoy music and our life!!
My students brought me to a restaurant in Central. It's called MASTER FOOD. Wow, the food is so delicious. What was most surprising was this cake, my students had chosen and designed it for half an hr. On the top of the cake, it was a "Fame" dance logo. That is so wonderful and meaningful. This is the most beautiful cake I have ever received!!
So they are my great great friends Jen and Ritz. After rehearsing for coming Dance Unique fun party, they were so kind to give me a treat -- Japanese Sushi. Yummy X 100000!!!
When I was small, I always went with my parents to the park on mid-autumn festival. This year I was so happy to do this again. I have not done this for many many years. Sitting on the grass, I recalled lots of my memories from my childhood, especially when doing this with my family. The child is my niece, he's 4 years old now. He is very very cute!
So on my birthday, instead of having a big party, I went cycling and enjoyed the silent moment. The view is very nice. I saw so many dogs, they came to celebrate for my birthday today, too.. haha..
.
Once again, thank you for all people's birthday presents and greetings. I really feel so much love around me. I really feel the true happiness.

Derek has loved performing since he was small.
Graduated from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technologies, Derek used to be working in an office for two years. Knowing that dancing and singing had been his biggest interests, eventually Derek quited his job and pursued his dream. Studying was one of the ways to change, so he went to an audition at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Art and finally got a seat in Musical Theater Dance.
After graduation, he got chance to perform in some Broadway musicals like Pippin, Annie, Oliver and so on. At the same time, he has been a Jazz/Jazz Funk dance instructor in different studios and schools like Studiodanz, CCDC, Jean M.Wong School of Ballet and HKUST.
In 2008, he set up a dance group, Dance Unique, with his friends Jen and Shan to further promoting dance to the community. They believe dance is not just about steps, but it’s love, it’s passion and it can make the world a better place. They hope to bring this message through their group’s functions.
Enjoying every single moment and following his heart, Derek always keeps bearing these in mind.
